Behavior Change Checklist: Make sure to answer the following questions when you’re implementing a new behavior. The goal is to identify a “Golden Behavior.”
- Motivation: Do you even want to do this new habit? This is your motivation. It is a key component, but it’s not the only thing that we want to focus on.
- Ability: Can you actually do this habit? Are you capable physically and mentally?
- Impact: Will this new habit actually have a positive impact on meeting your end goal? Is your new habit or behavior going to have a positive impact in your life?
If you can answer yes to all of these questions, you’re in a good spot because the combination of these criteria constitutes a “golden behavior.” You can always change your behavior if you find that your ability, impact, or motivation is lacking. Sometimes just a tiny, tiny tweak, makes the behavior “golden.”
