If so, you’re not alone. In fact, emotions of guilt are a pretty common feeling that bubbles up to the surface almost daily for women.
Even if you give yourself permission to not feel guilty, it still comes along for the ride.
Guilt can suck the enjoyment out of any activity because we give it so much power. But, that doesn’t have to happen to you.
A lot of women (including myself) struggle with feelings of guilt more often than not. The good news, you can learn how to manage it.

Pause
Pause and acknowledge the guilty feeling. It’s OK to feel our feelings even though they’re sometimes uncomfortable. When you acknowledge your feelings, you’re practicing emotional acceptance and validation. You’re able to understand how you’re feeling and be seen and heard by you.
Ask
Ask yourself what you’re feeling guilty about? When you can answer what the guilt is about, you become clear on who, what and why is contributing to your feelings of guilt. This can give you insight into making different choices in the future.
Identify
Identify your needs. The reality of a feeling, especially guilt is there’s a deeper need that’s not getting met. When you identify what you specifically need, this allows you to take the next step forward and get your needs met.
Understand
Know that self-care is an act of self-love. It’s your birthright and your responsibility to love you. No one else can love you the way you can except you.
Choose
Know that self-care is a choice every time. You’re in charge of your choices and decisions. Choose to engage in self-care/self-love.
Self-care doesn’t need to be a whole-day or half-day experience. It could be a compliment to yourself quickly in the mirror, a walk around the block, or a 5 minute deep breathing session.
The decision to choose and enjoy the journey has to start with you.
Remember, self-care is self-love and self-love is your birthright!
When you make the empowered choice and choose self-care – you give yourself a better version of you.
