Expensive to buy, but cheap and easy to make on your own.  Ghee is like liquid gold for your gut. It’s been used for centuries in Indian culture and is full of amazing flavor and packed with vital gut healing nutrients including Vitamin A, D, E & K plus Omega Fatty Acids. Dairy intolerant individuals celebrate; a spread that won’t make you sick since the proteins and sugars are skimmed off the top leaving you with just the fat.

*Gut healing, *Anti-oxidants, *Energizing

  • Prep: 10 mins
  • Cook: 15 mins
  • Yields: 1 Pound

Ingredients

1 pound unsalted organic grass-fed butter

Directions

1In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

2Allow the butter to come to a boil. You’ll hear the butter snap, crack and pop.

3Foam will start to form at the top. Using a spoon, remove foam and put in sink.

4After about 15-20 minutes, the ghee will become clear vs. it’s earlier cloudy state.

5Once you get to this stage, you can take it off the heat and using a cheesecloth or metal coffee filter, strain the liquid.

6You can let cool or do this immediately. Be careful as it is hot.

7Once strained, put liquid into a ceramic or glass bowl and cover.

8The ghee will last for about a year unrefrigerated.

Juicy Tips:

  • My go to is Kerry Gold unsalted butter which you can pick up at any local grocery store or Trader Joe’s.
