Sunscreen with SPF 30

Do you burn in a short amount of time when you're in the sun? If you're like me, I can burn in as little as 10 minutes. This sunscreen is great! Even in the intense Florida sun! I wasn't even pink. Easy to make in a short amount of time. And, it has an added benefit; moisturizing for your skin as well. Silky and smooth on your skin. A double whammy all in one container.
- Prep: 5 mins
- Cook: 10 mins
- Yields: 4 - 2 ounce tins with a little left over for tiny sample containers.
Directions
1Melt the coconut oil, jojoba oil, beeswax, shea butter, and vitamin E oil in a double boiler until well combined
2Remove from heat and add 15 drops of red raspberry seed oil or carrot seed oil
3Very carefully add in the zinc oxide, taking care not to breathe any in. You might want to cover your mouth with a cloth
4Mix slowly and thoroughly until there are no more powdered clumps of zinc oxide
5Pour into your desired container and let it return to room temperature
6Use as you would any sunscreen of SPF 30-40
All ingredients and tins are available at Mountain Rose Herbs - 1 stop shop 🙂
I used the full 1/4 cup of beeswax and it stayed on even in the pool (You should still reapply when exiting the water) and it didn't melt down in the heat (I did keep it in the shade so the sun wasn't beating down on it).
Zinc Oxide powder is very fine and does blow around a little. I actually took my melted oils outside to stir in the Zinc Oxide so I wouldn't have to worry about my cat.
** You do need to reapply every few hours and especially when exiting the water.**
